Italy Opens Investigation After Suspect in Water Park Assault Case Is Found Dead in Prison

 Italian authorities have launched an investigation after a 23-year-old Indian asylum seeker, who had been arrested over allegations of assaulting four young girls at a water park near Brescia, was found dead in prison.

According to Italian media reports and investigators, the incident occurred on Sunday evening at the Tibidabo water park in Concesio, near the city of Brescia.

Authorities said lifeguards noticed the man behaving suspiciously near a water slide area where several children were playing. Investigators allege that he approached a group of four 13-year-old girls and inappropriately touched them while they were briefly away from their parents.

The girls reportedly became distressed, prompting staff members to intervene.

The director of the facility, who reportedly witnessed the incident, contacted police immediately.

The Carabinieri responded to the scene and arrested the suspect after speaking with the girls and gathering initial witness statements.

He was later accused of aggravated sexual assault involving minors and was transferred to Canton Mombello prison in Brescia.

The four girls were subsequently interviewed by prosecutors during protected hearings, where they reportedly described their experiences to investigators.

Death in Prison

Less than two days after being taken into custody, penitentiary officers discovered the 23-year-old dead in his prison cell during a routine inspection.
