Tourist Arrested After Teen Girl Found in Suitcase

A 45-year-old tourist is facing the death penalty after a 17-year-old Thai girl was found dead inside a suitcase near railway tracks in Pattaya, Thailand.
Police identified the suspect as Simon Carman, who allegedly admitted to killing the teenager after initially trying to flee the country.
CCTV Shows Victim Entering Hotel with Suspect
Investigators say the victim, Tunchanok Donhomla, was last seen entering a hotel with Carman at around 3:30am on June 25.
The pair were filmed walking hand-in-hand into the building in Jomtien, an area of Pattaya known for its nightlife and sex tourism industry.
Dispute Inside Hotel Room Led to Death
Police believe an argument broke out inside the hotel room over payment.
Carman claimed he had initially agreed to pay the victim but later reduced the amount, which allegedly led to a confrontation.
He told investigators the situation escalated when the teenager allegedly held a knife to his throat, after which he strangled her.
Authorities continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Suitcase Was Seen on CCTV Before Body Was Discovered
CCTV footage later showed Carman dragging a large suitcase from the hotel room and leaving on a motorbike.
He returned shortly after without the suitcase, raising suspicion among investigators.
The suitcase was later discovered near railway tracks and opened by police on national television, revealing the victim’s body inside.
Attempted Escape at Bangkok Airport
Following the discovery, police issued a warrant for Carman’s arrest.
He was later intercepted at Bangkok Airport while allegedly attempting to board a flight to Australia.
During questioning, he initially denied responsibility but later confessed after being confronted with CCTV evidence.
Charges and Possible Death Penalty
Carman now faces multiple serious charges, including:
- Intentional homicide
- Taking and transporting a minor
- Destroying a corpse
If convicted, he could face either life imprisonment or the death penalty under Thai law.
Victim Remembered by Family
The victim, known as “little cake,” had moved to Pattaya from Bangkok and was reportedly working in the city’s nightlife area.
Her family described her as a young girl who tried to support herself while staying in contact with her father.
Her stepmother said they had tried to reach her but lost contact shortly before her death.
